What do I do?

The darkness of the orb that engulfed the shadow behemoth's claw grew closer and closer, the twisting shades of black and purple hypnotizing Asher as he peered deeper and deeper into the abyss. It never registered that the stairs were gone or that the people around him were preparing for battle. It didn't matter if he had a plan, which he didn't. All that existed was this hammer of hatred coming down upon the ant that was Asher.

What......do I do?

The fist grew closer and Asher's eyes filled up with the darkness set to engulf him. Darkness he had brought with him, his very own shadow. His dark side. He seemed lost, all until the cane sword in his hand began to glow a brilliant white, pushing the darkness from his sight. Asher shook it off, just as the fist came a few feet from him! With a last minute jump to the right, he dodged the full-force of the strike, but not the aftermath. The force blasted Asher through the air, his hat whipped off of his head and down into the eternal darkness below the pillar. Asher was soon to follow, his body falling over the edge.

Act......ACT!...........NOW!

Gaining control of his body once again, Asher struck quickly. He pulled the sword from his cane, plunging it deep into the pillar to the point it would move no more. His body stopped abruptly, his saving grace the white knuckle grip he held onto the hilt as he dangled above the nothingness. Asher looked down into the darkness wide-eyed. This was no longer a game. This was for everything. He pulled himself up as best as he could, planting his feet firmly on the side of the pillar. He peered back over the edge to the massive black giant an swallowed hard, which sent a pain through his chest. That shot had hurt him more than he even knew..........

.........and the fight was just getting started.

"We don't really have any other option; Zora. This place is...one way.."

Takato crossed his arms as he stopped, pausing one moment to look out at the vast ocean of black tears that made up the realm. All they could really do was climb the stairs up and follow the directions laid out to them by the mysterious voice ringing in their ears. Sure, they could jump off and fall into the abyss. Probably. However that would no doubt end badly. If there was no end; then that was haunting. If there was an end; then they would obviously die upon impact. They couldn't see the bottom and that was certainly enough to think about. It wasn't something he enjoyed thinking about; being a puppet in a story. Still, what could he do? Magi had numerous spells and transportation to escape spaces like this; even to the point of teleportation. Yet a part of him couldn't help ponder on such things even working in this unnatural world. Not that he bothered to learn them anyway, but, still.

Now choose, flee or step forth. Take hold of what lies beyond. Claim mastery over the eternal ring.

There it was again. What was causing th-

He froze and a surge of pain suddenly shot through his shoulder. Metal fingers curled with agony as he stumbled. His amber eyes could only stare up however. Up; up and up. The jokes about his height felt almost bitter at the exact moment. Slightly unfair too. Slowly he backed up and then jumped in preparation with all the strength that his body could offer him. "I...don't think..." he began; running through every possible spell he had in his mind for that moment. He could summon a wall! That would work, right? Yeah, who was he kidding. He didn't have enough magical power to make one that large; let alone block a fist of that mass. He no longer had access to Fatalis Orbis; so that was completely out. Iaculatio Fulgoris wouldn't generate attacks big enough to even make a dent; not at his level of his strength.

What was left?

Take up arms...

The blonde Magi raised his metal hand and stared at it with curious emotion. A eye unblinkingly peered back. He knew he had been instinctively using a lesser form of an unforgivable spell since gaining this damn thing. It was one of the reasons he had selected that for his third spell in the first place. It wouldn't be enough though. Casting a Avada Kedavra on those small creatures through this thing had been easy; extremely so. He got the feeling that it would just cause this thing to laugh though. He didn't hate the towering creature and was more scared than anything. He hadn't hated those smaller beings; but at the very least it had enough to do the job. Satisfyingly so. That curse just wouldn't have the kind of power that was needed here though

What was left?

What was left?

Violent winds quickly called up around his arm and slithered over the extended limb like a flowing river; pausing with a crackling expansion of electricity. His metal hand firmly clasped around the handle of a weapon and a shaping creation formed without any work from himself. He found himself at a loss for words. A newfound axe had formed; now being held by him. It was crafted in a way that made one violent metal side of it pointing up in a cold curve and the other side pointing down with the same long edge. A spike sat between the two points and raised above both; leading down into a handle wrapped in a familiar red cloth. The general section of the battleaxe was equivalent to his entire torso in mass; while the lower section shaped into being about the size of it in length. Whatever material it was made of looked dangerously sturdy and thick enough to smash stone. Two most important aspects stood out the most to Takato himself; first - he could only wield it with his false arm. He simply wasn't strong enough to hold it with his real strength.

Secondly; the battleaxe had taken the core of the enemy attack like a shield. He could actually see the stuff it was made up of shine at the sheer force that buckled against it. His shoes dug into the ground and he skid like a snail as he was slowly forced back. Finally physics won out and all he could do was look in wonder. "...I expected a staff. Or to die. I guess this will do." Following that he used the impact of the giant blow hitting the "ground" to strike the fist with the side of the weapon. Swinging with a single arm and savagely attempting to wound it. Trying to figure why he had received this now and not before would come later. For now, he had to survive.

"Tch...." she couldn't find a rebuttal against his words as Zora turns away from Takato. Again, they were on top of a stain glass circle...this was getting real old.

That is, until something big came along.

Zora couldn't tell whether she was more shocked, scared, or pissed when she saw this giant black titan rising up in front of them. She has seen a lot of strange and big monsters...from a giant dragon hell bent on destroying a small town to obliteration to a weird morphing three mouthed DOG....or wolf....or probably some mutated Ditto. What the hell is a Ditto anyways? She was too distracted by its massive size and threatening aura that it took her a bit of time to register it's fist was aimed directly at them. She tries to run out of the center of the attack as she looks around. Even if she dodged the attack, there was not much room to stay on the pillar itself.

Once she manages to run out of the range of the fist as it connected and hit the ground, she could feel her body lifting up into the air from the shockwave. Quick thinking, she takes her sword in her left hand and thrusts it down onto the glass floor in order for her not to be completely blown away. Her sword went through, but the shock wave was stronger, causing her sword to cut through the glass as she was being dragged to the edge. It eventually came to a stop near the edge as she grips onto the sword, her lower body dangling over the empty darkness behind and below her. Using her strength, she pulls herself back onto the glass, letitng out a heavy sigh before looking at the behemoth in front of her. "Gods....Can we even beat this thing without our powers?!"

Xander turned to Ima as he wanted to say something, but he couldn't think of anything he could say. Hearing her say she wanted to know him more made him... happy. Without memory of his family before this point, the love did help him feel less like an outcast in their little group. Still, he felt like there was somewhere he needed to be, wherever it was.

That was when Xander say it, the giant shadow creature that was before them all. It was massive and so much stronger than anything before. His reaction wasn't the same as the others. The crippling fear that made the others think only of survival wasn't there with him. Xander was smiling.

He gripped his blade as he jumped back as far as he could from where he was. It was enough to dodge the fist and then he started to run forwards. The power and wind of the shockwave tried to push him back, but he ran through it. Xander rushed forward as soon as he was able, jumping onto the massive fist. He ran up with as much speed as he could, which was actually quite a good amount compared to the others so far, and made sure he reached the head.

"Let's see you take this!!" he called out as he moved his sword outward, beginning to slash right at the face of the creature. While on his shoulder, he got about three or four swipes on it before stumbling and falling off to the floor.

Every blade that struck the shadow titan had the same effect. Its not-flesh parted, a cloud of darkness spewing from where there would have been blood on a normal being, only for the wound to fuse shut after less than a second. The creature was damaged, yet undamaged. The weapons also did not make it some much as flinch, not turning its gaze to Xander nor its fist from its resting place.

Ima had jumped away from the attack, using her slight gravity powers to stay airborne to avoid the shockwaves, the literal one and the figurative one. The lightning in the creature's palm raced through the ground, creating a circle of sorts that was replaced with a fiery darkness, similar to that which had transported the group before. From that darkness rose a few of the same small shadows they had fought on the platform prior, all of which attacked on sight.

The child summoned her hammer from wherever it disappeared to and whacked an incoming shadow with it. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Xander falling, and unthinkingly used what gravity powers she had to prevent him from going splat on the floor. It would still hurt, but the 50 foot drop wouldn't kill him at least. That act instantly made her feel far more tired than she should have. She made a note that she'd have to be more conservative with her powers from there on out.

The giant shadow finally withdrew its hand, but it wasn't done by a long shot. The hole in its chest began to glow with a strange dark light, then from it suddenly several spheres of a similar nature, a few rocketing towards each member of the group like a homing missile.

It's in the times of trouble that you begin to notice how little friends you have around you. Asher watched as the others continued to fight and he himself continued to hang. Smart money would've just hoped his arm strength would keep him safe, as he flat ground of the pillar wasn't exactly much safer. That being said, he was happier risking life and limb where he could dodge as opposed to just drop. He bent his knees with feet planted on the side of the pillar and pushed, using the momentum to slide up onto the pillar on his stomach. He pulled his sword from the stuck position and placed it back into the cane, turning back to survey the battle.

That's when the first shadow attacked.

"Wah!" Asher bent backwards just on recoil, the momentum of the shadow sending it flying over his chest and over the side of the pillar, falling down into the infinite depths below. Asher propped himself back up, taking in a deep breath and heaving a sigh, not registering the two creeping shadows that slid on the floor by him, one to his front, the other his back. They leaped to their solid forms, catching Asher by surprise! He swiped with his cane, only to trip on his own force as the shadow ducked underneath him! He stumbled, stopping only when a second shadow jumped from the ground, headbutting Asher in the jaw! The young man flipped back, landing on his neck and shoulders! He rolled over onto his feet, his bell terribly rung. He tried to shake off the cobwebs, seeing the shady forms slither closer through cloudy eyes. They pounced when in range, meeting not with the flesh of their target, but with wrong end of a swung cane! One shadow slammed into another from Asher's home run swing, sending them crashing to the floor! Tripping and stumbling while running forward, Asher pulled the sword from his can and fell to his knees, using the force behind the fall to plunge the blade through both shadows simultaneously! They both struggled for a moment, bursting into dark clouds and fading away there after. Ashed dug the sword into the floor, using the palm on his free hand to hold himself up. He just needed to gain his breath.

Breath he caught along with a glimpse of the on-coming projectiles.........

"Oh......OH!"

He tried to push himself back, studying the trajectory of the dark spheres as he did as to move out of the path, floundering back to his feet as he did so. It then became very clear that this orb was not seeking the ground, but where ever it was that he stood. This was going to burn him, consume him, and leave nothing left. A force not seen before, that would follow him....a force that would follow.....a force that would follow! That was it, a plan surged in Asher's brain, but as he looked at the pure carnage and the monstrous enemy ahead, he began to feel doubt. It would take a fool to make the run, someone without any sense, a wing, or a prayer. As the questions mounted more and more, the runes on the cane at his side began to ignite, the pure radiance growing stronger and stronger as if reacting to the negativity in Asher's heart. Asher turned to the weapon, a new look of confusion to his face.

The Blade of the Chance......the odds are a million to one.....are they in your favor? Are they?..........The odds..........are up to you.....

Why did he ever doubt it? The mind was the deadliest tool, after all. He closed his eyes for just a moment, placing his thoughts in a single row. Focus. It's all in your head. You're in-charge here. The pain that was in Asher's chest and in his jaw and in what seemed to be every place in his body whisked away like water down the course of a river. He had control, enough for what he needed to do. He shot forward! Asher ran as fast and as collected as he could, the natural clumsiness he had causing him to hop every now and then to avoid falling on his face. Shadows leaped from the ground aiming to slash and pound, but found nothing but open air as Asher ducked and dodged, his eyes focused on the target. The legs of the giant, suspended up high but low enough to reach with a jump. Asher hopped once, bending down and with as much force as he could muster, leaped, drawing his sword again and stabbing it into the leg of the behemoth. He watched the orb of darkness creep closer and closer, drawing ever the more near until it lit up his eyes.

NOW!

Asher withdrew his blade, falling just at the right time to send the orb that was chasing him slamming into the leg of the one who had launched it! Asher fell and fell, dropping onto his back with the sword in his hand clattering on the ground. At that one time, the pain all returned. He hurt, and he hurt bad, but the thought of a plan executed kept him from weeping. He used a portion of the strength he had left to grip his sword once more. He never liked weapons like these, never took to getting up-close and personal, but there was just something about this blade that seemed like..........a part of him. This was a fragment of his body. He and this weapon shared the same....heart.

Takato moved; but nowhere fast enough. The incoming blasts were faster than he could run and were most certainly able to keep up with his movements. The feel of one impacting him was like being licked by fire. He could physically feel his skin burn beneath his clothes as he flew back and skidded along the floor by the edges of his feet. Only the echo of them fading after repeatedly striking away with his axe through the air gave him any solace. He panted and looked at the large beast; noting that it hurt to breathe while studying it. It was large; yet; but surprisingly he had expected those attacks to hurt more than it should of. What was this thing? Only the feel of steel tapping the "glass" below broke his thoughts before he shook his head. "Alrighty, time for a fix up. Tui Gra-..."

He froze and a spike of pain shot through his head. By the Nine; the Almighty Founder, Merlin and the god-dang Thousand Master that hurt. A lot. His reach for the spell he had in mind escaped him and a sudden feeling of sickness ran through his stomach as he raised the axe up. "Oh. Right. Tis' going to take sometime getting used to that..." It was extremely unfortunate; especially since he was about to be hit once more by another sphere of darkness. The only thing he could really do in response was ready his weapon and savagely swing it like a baseball bat at the incoming object in hopes it would do something once again.

At least if Al was here she could of handled some of the trouble he...he.....he-

Takato was struck dead in the face and his ears popped. For once; he didn't mind it.

His Pactio card was gone.

Tugging her sword out of the ground, she saw the gigantic monster spawning more of teh dark creatures they have fought before. "Crap...." she grumbles as she saw a few of them running up to her. Gripping the sword with both of her hands, she starts to slash with all of her strength, disposing the creatures with a bit more ease. However, it used up much of her stamina at once much faster than it would have with one hand. Zora had to pause, pressing the sword agianst the ground as she pants heavily.

"seriously....just because the curse is gone....?" she mutters as she looks back up, lifting her sword up before seeing the giant black spheres of doom homing onto them all.

"....Fuck..."

She threw he sword over her shoulder, holdign it with her left hand as she tries to make a mad dash out of the sphere's way. However, she was far too drained of her stamina to run too far and ends up getting hit on her right leg. She cries out in pain and tumbles onto the ground, letting go of her sword as it slid on the even portion of the glass floor. "O-Ow....."

Xander looked down at the ground as he was about to fall. He was waiting for the splat when he was saved, feeling his body become lighter just long enough to hit the ground with a small thud. It was much better than it could have been, but it still hurt. Everyone around him was fighting their hardest. He saw Asher hit the ground after him, moving to him and offering his hand. He hadn't even seen Asher before now. He must have been too caught up in things. He had to remember he wasn't alone, even though he felt like he was before.

It was then that the projectiles came. Xander sprang up, blocking and deflecting the ones he could see. Surprisingly, he saw them move back towards the creature they originated from. Of course, he did still have blind spots, being hit on the back more than once. Seeing his position as a bad one, he made his way towards Asher

"Sorry, dude!" he said in assumption that he had it rough alone. He offered his hand to aid him up as he looked up and said, "We gotta do this together or we don't have a chance..." He then heard Zora fall in pain. He ran over to her next, deflecting some of the remaining orbs along his way and some that threatened to attack her now that she was without defenses. He was starting to pant at this point, all the running around was getting tiring even for him. He fell to one knee and looked at the girl.

"Not hurt, right?" he said to her lightly. "I got a feeling we should go for the head..." He stood up ans then said, "You guys! We need to hit him all at once when his head is in the sweet spot!"

"What's a sweet spot?" Ima called out as she slammed her hammer into the floor with a little extra gravity power. The nearby small shadows froze, stunned, and the girl wasted no time in getting rid of them. She glanced around when she was done. That seemed to be the last of them.

Something hit her arm, making her recoil with a yelp as it left a burning sensation in its wake. Looking at where it come from, she found two more spheres of dark light coming towards her. She raised her hammer and swung at them both, hoping that would somehow dispel them. Surprisingly it worked.

The shadow giant was still standing strong, not looking so much as winded from any of the attacks thus far. It raised its left arm, the bladed one, high into the air before it brought it down, nearly hitting Ima who just barely managed to dodge in time to not be skewered. The titan repeated the action for each of its opponents.

"I think it heard you!" Ima squeaked.

Asher saw the world through groggy eyes, everything blurring together as it spun around him. Sounds were drowned out as if they came from so very far away, or from out the depths of strange waters. He saw only a strange shape, a gelatinous blob of black and nothing more lurking over him. It spoke to him, but in words he could not understand. What was it doing? What did it want? The blob reached for him, closer, closer, but Asher couldn't move. The pain was terrible, but the shock of his landing was what kept him motionless.

And then the voice became familiar. It was the other guy, Xander was his name, and he himself seemed to be as lost to this group of travelers as he was. Asher was reluctant, even in his battered, broken state, to accept his help. It took a great effort just to keep any form of eye contact. People, Asher was never used to them, especially one as.....excited as Xander. Still, he was right, they had to do this together. Asher dragged his hand up, wincing as he did, and took Xander's hand, letting him help Asher to his feet.

"Thanks, and y-ow.....you're right."

As his words ended, the blade came down. A surge of agony going through his back, Asher leaped with the force his legs could muster, dodging the piercing intent of the massive enemy! Asher stumbled as he landed, falling to a knee and saved from falling over only by his cane. He heaved heavy breaths. It hurt just to breathe, to walk. The sad fact that he wasn't going to be much more of a help in this battle began to wash over him. This was not his fight to have. Still, he pushed down on his cane, lifting himself back to his feet. He kept as tight of a grip on his cane as he could.

Man, this was going to suck.

"I've been beaten....bruised..."

Takato grunted as he stood up; staring at the large creature with a nasty mark across his face. The blows that struck him were charged with a dark power that had literally burned his flesh. Very much so. One of the balls of energy that had sent him to the ground had left a completely black scorched mess on one side of his mouth leading up to his cheek. It was like tar and rot; blood seeping out of the wound with every word that passed his lips. If one wanted to replicate it - all they had to do was shove a knife through the side of their face and then burn it close with a torch. Not a pretty sight - obviously hurting the magi immensely. It wasn't a common occurrence to allow himself to get to such a point thanks to his healing magic and general defence abilities that made up his lore. Unfortunately; they had been stripped away from him.

"....battered...and burned..."

His battleaxe burst into light and faded as he snapped up his shaking hand. Electrical sparks dancing between his fingers. The giant blade that was coming down at him was in his eye-sight. He didn't move. The metal arm snapped up fully and the weight of the down-smashing weapon struck the false-limb with full-force. One could hear bones -break- instantly and the sound of rust being shaved off painfully within the collision. It was rather amusing to see; but the blonde Magi was..holding it. The massive blade-like arm was being firmly gripped by the steel-hand and keeping it from crushing him at the same time. This left him both being unable to move from his position; let alone do anything else. Takato looked like he was about to start swearing  his mouth off however. The sheer amount of strain and pain tearing through his nerves could be seen through his face alone. Every unpopped blood-vessel he had to spare was rushing to his face.

"...and I think I've just lost...Al...."

To give a rough idea of what was happening - his metal limb was acting as a building column designed to keep a roof stable. The pressure being forced down was meeting the material that his limb was made of in a battle of limbs all while the rest of his human body was being forced along for the ride. This meant that the section of his torso that was still very real was both starting to tear and shred beneath his clothes. His knees were bucking and shaking almost comically - only helped thanks to the hollow nature of his arm. The worst of it however? The way the arm had been placed onto him meant that the false limb would either break to pieces or sink -into- what little bone/flesh was left there if he kept this up. Considering how hard his steel fingers were digging into the darkness-made-flesh; he obviously knew this.

"Don't be afraid? I'm absolutely freaking' terrified and I think I'm..." '....just about to piss myself'

Takato fearfully looked up with his amber eyes meeting the yellow-glare of the creature.

"That doesn't mean I'll let you go."

"Ima! Takato!"

Zora couldn't believe what was going on with this....was this Storyteller guy trying to kill them?! She wanted to rush over to Ima's aid since she still thought of the alien as a small child rather than an alien, especially now of all times when they were at their weakest the oculd be. Zor was even more worried seeing Takato's face melted and burned like that...it was very disturbing and truly showed how deep they were in if he of all people was having a hard time...

...And also being scared shitless like this...

Brandishing the sword in both of her hands, she tries to calm herself from trembling too much before noticing the monster's arm being swung down towards her. Last minute, she jumps out of the way of his arm, tumbling on the floor as she looks back up. With her right arm not as strong as it should be, swinging it would be hard. Using her non-dominant arm is just as bad due to inaccuracy....yet using both arms would be slow and tire her out just as much.

"I'm not scared.....I can't be scared!" She shouts with wide eyes, dashing over to the monster. "I won't die here!" Zora couldn't allow herself to feel fear right now....what mattered was getting rid of this monster one wya or another. To her, fear would set her back and make her second guess herself. Once she got close enough, she jumps up and slashes at his other arm, hoping to harm him.

Xander could see that everyone around him was in chaos and they were all too afraid to do anything. He knew he had to do something, to protect them. Its not that he wasn't scared as well. Staring something that huge in the face would scare anyone. Even still, he had to keep fighting. It was all he knew now. It was all he was right now. Someone who had to fight and survive for his new friends so he wouldn't be alone again.

He saw the sword swinging at him. He jumped to the side, rolling forward on the ground so that he would be able to move out of the way. He only barely made it. He was able to land on one knee and a foot, turning with blade in hand to see Zora making her move. He had a feeling her attack wouldn't mean much, at least not by itself.

He stood up and ran behind her, going for the opposite side that she was aiming for on the same arm. He swung his sword at the arm of the creature, hoping to assist her and do damage. He knew that the head was probably the best spot to do damage, but if this slowed down its attacks, then that would be the best thing for all of his friends.

"TAKATO!" Ima shrieked as she saw what was happening to her friend. Any thoughts of her own pained arm vanished as she saw him being nearly crushed by their enemy. It was enough to make her stomach churn and tears spring to her eyes. She ran over and started whacking at the shadow giant's foot, the only part of it she could reach with it floating a few feet of the ground and she herself being shorter than even Takato. "Leave him alone! Stop it, you big meanie!"

It did stop. Not out of any sort of reaction to the child's plea, granted, but the pressure exerted down on Takato did cease nonetheless as it yanked the arm away and plunged the blade into the ground. Its feet came down and made contact with the floor – Ima had to scramble to keep from getting squished underfoot – shortly before its knees did, and its sword-arm kept it from falling farther forward like a human might use a cane. The other arm, the one Zora and Xander were attacking and swatted them away before putting that hand down to steady itself as well, and then did not move.

The creature was wide open.

Ima didn't waste any time, climbing up the right arm to its shoulder and proceeding to whack at its head with all of her eight-year old strength. "Take that! And that! And that! Meanie!"

Asher's eyes went wide by no force of his own as the blade of the beast crashed into the arm of the young guy in the red coat. He wanted to close his eyes. He wanted to close them so badly, turn away from the death of this unfortunate soul that had been trapped in the darkness with him. He didn't want to see this young man die. He seemed like a good enough person, but even if he wasn't, that sight of a body being cleaved was something Asher had avoided up until this moment and he hoped to keep it so, but he froze. He couldn't look away. His brain continued to scream to the rest of his body to turn, move, do anything, but nothing would respond! This would be the moment he feared, the viewing of an execution in the most gruesome fashion.........

But he stopped the blow.

Through some smart thinking and a willing sacrifice, the one they called Takato had thrown his own well-being aside and stopped the giant's strike dead in it's tracks. Asher had heard the bones break, saw the blood seep from his body and from the burn on his face. It made no sense to him. Why? Why would Takato risk his own life and literal limb to stop this strike when he could've moved? Was it an ego thing? A test of his own strength? Asher let the puzzle pass through his shocked mind as he watched the beast fall forward, the shake in it's form provided by the returned force of a young magi. The behemoth had never expected to be stopped, it's body couldn't take the strain.

Takato had sacrificed to open up the target.

The people around Asher seemed to move in slow-motion. He saw the will to live in Zora, a true animal with her back to the wall, and as a result, at her most dangerous. He saw the heart of a lion in Xander, a true hero in the making, fighting because his heart told him it was right and that what was right was his code. He saw the Magi in such pain. He would be in no shape to fight, but in him, he saw inspiration. A man of courage the like Asher had never seen before. He then turned to the child, the young girl, and he saw the tears in her eyes. She saw the pain of one who had seen their friend go through immense pain and in return, felt the pain down in her own heart. That was a bond Asher could remember. He thought of his friends back home, their smiling faces, the times that they had trained and played and watched the stars at night.

He wanted to see those stars again. He would see those stars again.

His spine shook with the electricity of pain as he lurched forward a single step, his ribs burning as he took another. His knees shook and buckled, not used to the work they had to do on their own, but there would be no stopping them. Inertia had fallen victim to a more powerful force: will. He continued to tell himself how stupid what he was about to do was, but Asher was still going to do it. He charged forward, his sheer desire to push on keeping his clumsy legs from tripping on each other. His cane dragged as he leaned ahead more, putting all of the power in his ragged body into the run! As he reached one of the downed arms, he jumped, landing on the creature's arm and running up the length, eyes locked on the head.

He would do this for his friends, for those stars overhead, and for the people here that cared enough for each other to give so much for so little in return.

Asher gripped the hilt-portion of the cane, letting out a determined battle cray as he launched himself, swiping out the glimmering blade with a swift slice, biting into the neck and under the chin of the shadowy giant!

".....I'm okay..."

Takato stumbled back and gripped his false shoulder with increased panting; blood licking down the steel as he stood there staring at the battle ahead. He was completely and utterly out of all mana. What little left he had retained in the stripping of his abilities had quickly reached a depleted point. He doubted he could even make a feather float at this point. The amount of pain he could feel running down his body was something he had only experienced once before. A sensation that made him sick to his stomach. Every nerve was on fire and his brain was screaming at him to drop and close his eyes. A idea that didn't sound too bad to the dazed Magi.

Beat

A thud echoed in his chest and his stare faded in a breathless opening of his lip; a foot jetting forward to steady himself from dropping like a rock. He could hear his comrades attacking the large creature with all they had. Some he knew; some he didn't. His distraction had been successful - but he wouldn't let them fight alone. His amber eyes blinked away the fatigue raining down throughout his gaze and his real limb dropped away from his fake one as he slowly straightened up. The plea for rest was lost on him and all he could see was words flashing. Words that he secretly cared for quite dearly. Words that meant more to him those that bared such knew.

Zora. That pretty blue haired girl that had met him under amusing circumstances.

Ima. Such a wonderful child who he thought the whole world about and wanted to protect.

Raven. A stronger man than he and someone he knew he could rely on if he failed.

Alyssia. His first dear friend and fellow student. Master of the Animagus.

His eyes glanced at Xander and Asher; feeling a small struggling smile grow across his lips,

...Perhaps even two more now...

Metal fingers curled and one long, deep exhale of air exited his body. He began to move. First at a snails pace in the form of a limping walk. Then he picked up; grasping himself until he was actually dashing at the large creature. The fact that he could spy Ima herself whacking at the creature with all her might spurned him on even further. The sheer amount of agony he felt for attempting this was unlike any other. Yet he knew that he had to do something. As he neared the "monster" he felt every muscle in his legs tear and prepare themselves to jump - all while he metal arm bent up to a thumb to his chest throughout the dash.

Beat....Beat....Beat

"Who cares if I don't have my magic!"

He knew something of certain as he leaped at the torso of the fallen beast from the ground.

He was...proud to be with these people.

Beat....Beat....Beat...BeatBeatBeatBeatBeatBeatBeatBeat

Takato's metal arm pulled back and the shoulder plating creaked loudly in the movement; bones joining the echo as he continued to run. The extended thumb fell and the fist he had made once before reshaped until every false joint was strengthened. His amber eyes snapped open fully to stare at his target; teeth clenching before he let loose a shout. He wanted the beast to know this. Hell; he wanted those around him to know this. Even if he was terrified. Even if he wanted to cry at the pain he was feeling. Even if everything in his body just wanted to stop. He wouldn't let them fight alone now. Not now.

"My fist has a lot of names...and a lot of thoughts backing 'em up!"

His eyes teared up; staring dead ahead. A crack had already formed on the "steel" arm.

"This is going to hurt!"

He didn't know if he was talking to himself now or his target. He just knew he meant it.

The raw metal that the fist was made of, combined with the last bit of physical strength he had and the velocity that he was moving at slammed into it. It was just a solid punch. There was no fancy magic behind it. No secret power or hidden ability. It was just a punch from a wounded man that wanted to keep on helping those even stronger around him.

Takato socked that thing in the chest.

"Graaaaaaaaaaah!"

Zora could hear Ima's scream for Takato...she rarely hears the small little alien girl freaking out like that. However, she couldn't come to her aid as much as she wanted to when she noticed the colossus falling down to its knees. She was too focused on it falling that she didn't noticed the arm she was attacking was slashing at them, getting hit right on her side as she was flunged across the floor.

"O-Ow...." she hisses, trying to get up as she looked at the monster. "Ima....Takato...are you guys all right?" She could see the little brat punching at the giant monster while Ima managed to get away without getting squashed. She staggers up to her feet and grips onto her sword, one hand on her side where it was starting to bruise and bleed slightly. Zora starts to run towards it, trying to steady herself as she brings the sword up and slashes at his legs. "Just...go to hell!!!"

Xander's eyes widened before he was swatted away, flying back the other way with Zora. He looked up and saw the beast was unmoving, wanting to take the chance before it could do anything else. He knew he wouldn't be able to reach it in time with his legs and his focus was only on the beast. He threw his sword as hard as he could, the blade aimed at and hitting the creature's head.

Xander skit to the ground, holding his side in pain as he slowly stood up, looking at all of his friends one by one as he said, "We can't stop until its gone!" His cry was filled with the strength within his heart and his desire to help his friends. It caused his blade to shine with a white and powerful light.

The shadow giant took the strikes like it was made of stone, unflinching through all of the attacks, even the glowing blade that hit right between its eyes. It was as if the heartfelt attacks did nothing to it at all, not a flinch or a wince more than its already weakened state. The creature might have been an obsidian statue for all that it moved.

And then it rose again.

But don't be afraid.

Ima tumbled down the creature's back, hitting the floor with a gasp of pain. Since the creature was crouching it wasn't a far enough fall to injure her, but it was still rather painful. She looked up to find the shadow staring at her, at all of them, with its soulless glowing eyes.

You hold a mighty weapon.

The shadow lifted its bladed hand high into the air, then sent it striking down into the middle of the floor, targeting no one. The entire area was covered with the darkness that had brought the smaller shadows before, but instead of summoning them, it was dragging them all into it instead.

So don't forget...

Ima struggled to move, to get out of the darkness and stop the giant, but her new weapon disappeared from her hand. All of their weapons would vanish, turning to light in their hands and leaving them completely defenseless. The child still struggled, trying to do something, anything, but the shadows barely let her move, and it was a hopeless endeavor. The darkness consumed her, as it would all of them.

You may be the one who will open the door.

"Hey! Hey, are you guys alright?"

Ima opened her eyes to find herself and the others being stared at by a teenaged girl with dark hair, in an alley of sort. She found as she sat up that both the spot where she had been hit with that odd dark-light missile and the ache she had from falling down the shadow's back were gone. In fact, none of them had so much as a scratch or a tear in their clothes. The only indication that any of them had been in that dark and dream-like world at all were the weapons that had reappeared in their hands.

Were those.....stars?

Was he.......home?

The world around Asher cleared like water flowing from a pane of glass, the images sharpening at their edges with each blink of an eye and shake of his head. They were there, looking back to him like lovers in the distance. The stars, they were so beautiful. They would comfort him here in the darkness.

Wait, the darkness........

Asher sat up quickly with a gasp of shock, checking all around him for traces of the cesspool of pure shadow that had taken him captive just a second before! Every cobblestone he patted with his bare hand until a more curious realization occupied his mind: he felt no pain. There were no shooting bites of electricity up his back with every breath he took. In fact, each breath was pleasant and brought with it the scents of the city that he had associated with the safety of home. The safety he found in the cane that he clutched again in his left hand, the runes still glowing but in a tame fashion like that of a soft candle light. He inspected his clothing and found no tears. It was as if everything he had experienced was a dream.....

And if these things were all here.......

Asher shot a hand to his head at the speed a child would run down the stairs at Christmas morning, ceasing when he felt the fabric that placed a warmth in his heart. His hat, lost during the final battle, had somehow magically found it's way back to his head! Asher was so pleased to have it back. It was such a nice hat, after all.

Still, something wasn't right. The stars, the soft glow of the street lights upon the buildings around them. This fit perfectly into the description of the place Asher most wanted to be at the time of the battle. A description the Storyteller apparently had full-access to. For all Asher knew, this could be another trap. Another game set-up, a bait and switch for Asher to fall for, only to be dragged back into the dark to fight more of those.....things! He had to prove it otherwise to himself, but how? How could he?

Asher cocked his head to the side as it hit him. If they were free, if it had all been given back to him........"It" would be with him once more.

Paying no attention to the others around him, Asher removed the hat from his head and gripped it by the brim. He closed his eyes, turning his head away, and dropped the hat. It fell down, turning in a nearly perfect fashion and landing on the inside curve of his leg without so much as a flinch! Asher, the young man who moments before couldn't stand on his own two feet without falling, no stood blind and balancing on one-foot! Asher stood in perfect balance for a moment, then kicked up, the hate sailing into the air! It was as if the article of clothing had a mind of it's own, twisting and turning in the air and adjusting trajectory until it landed exactly where it belonged, perfectly on Asher's head the way it had been just moments before.

Asher placed his foot back on the ground with grace, scratching the back of his neck as he let out a sigh. It had been nice for a while, but it seemed the way things were meant to be had returned. He felt his luck changing more and more with every passing second.

The magic was coursing through him once again.

Asher turned to find his new traveling companions around him, and one dark-haired girl looking down on the child. He turned away, swallowing a lump that formed in his throat! If there was anything Asher couldn't handle more than talking to people, it was talking to girls.

Ow....

His everything hurt. Takato didn't look like he wanted to stand as he rubbed his metal arm and ran his fingers over the cracks in the steel limb. His amber gaze appeared downright curious and almost startled for several seconds - sighing before he pulled up the white glove on the hand and pulled down the sleeve of his undershirt. His coat had been more or less cast aside (see - complete annihilated) in the fight. Thankfully the rest of his clothes survived. That would have been embarrassing if not. Still; he made utterly no attempt to move from his seated position in the alley and stretched out legs in a sigh of fatigue. He was tired. Extremely tired. Stressed out; freaked out and just generally magicked out. He pondered if the later was even a real phrase.

"I feel like I've done six-tons of Skooma."

Takato said in response to the girl as he held up his hand. Axe shining within the grip before it "clonked" onto the ground. Hard. His face looked... bad. Bad-bad. He even made a motion to the newfound burn that marred his features. Surprisingly he didn't seem to mind too much about the wound. That wasn't there anymore. "What the hell?" The blonde looked dumbstruck. Slowly he ran his gloved fingers over the mess that should have been across his cheek and he winced at the touch instinctively; but was satisfied to note that it was perfectly healed. It wasn't bleeding anyway.

That didn't help the feeling of fatigue that sank in his mana banks

"...Don't suppose you have a Healing Potion...?" he questioned with a quick glance around. "...Or a Dragon Leaf? HP.L? Phoenix Down? Chakra Pill?"

He sighed. He had a feeling he would be stuck like this for awhile.

Takato still made no move to budge from his seated state in the alley. Mumbling to himself.

(fixed)

Zora opened her eyes, greeted with something that WASN'T the endless darkness that she was starting to grow accustom to. It took her a bit to get used to the actual walls that surrounded her in this alley. "Ugh...." Her entire body ached....her arm was aching the most. It felt so weak now...it wasn't even the normal pain she was used it. It was as if someone stuck on someone else's arm that had no freaking strength or muscles in it.

Getting her bearings, she looks around to account for everything...and by everyone, she means Ima and Takato. She knew nothing about Asher or Xander nor did she care. She heard Takato muttering to himself, sighing as she looks up to the teenage girl in front of them. For the love of god...an actual human and not just an annoying, leading voice.

"Where are we...?" she mutters, still trying to get used to seeing normal buildings.

Xander's eyes widened as he was taken into the darkness. He reached out to try and grab his sword but he was unable to do so. He fell, sinking into the abyss without it. His eyes closed, though he wouldn't know the difference as he seemed to fall once again.

When his eyes next opened, he was in the alleyway, laying on the ground as his hand was to his head. The first thing he heard was someone asking if everyone was alright. This caused him to rise from the grown to a sitting position. He looked around slowly, seeing everyone from that strange place all here. They all still had their weapons, so it wasn't like any of that was a dream. He looked down at his empty hands, seeing there was no weapon for him. He didn't mind it, thinking first that the time for needing one was already done. He just wondered why he was left out compared to everyone else. Was it because he threw his away and couldn't get it back in time? So strange...

He started to get up slowly, blinking as he saw the girl looking at them. Another person he hadn't met before now. Then again that would apply to anyone at this point. After all, with no memory of his past other than his name, everyone was a new face today. "So, anybody know what happened?" Xander said lightly, seeming to be one of the first to address all of them. He then turned to the teenage girl and said, "You must be from around here, huh?"

"Well, sort of. And not exactly?" The stranger said to Xander and Takato, respectively. The girl looked increasingly confused at the list of strange items as it went on. "I have a Potion and an Ether, if either of them are what you need." She flicked her wrist and said items suddenly appeared in her hand, both of which she offered to the mage. "Here, I hope these help."

She was a pretty girl, tall with long, dark brown hair and bright green eyes. She wore a short lilac-colored skirt and a black tank top, as well as black sneakers that seemed unusually large. Her expression was kind, even with her clear confusion to the situation, and she gave off a gentle, peaceful aura.

"You're in the First District, near the accessory shop." Said the girl in response to Zora as she glanced towards her, a lack of understanding clear in her tone, though she obviously wanted to help. "Are you lo - ah!" She suddenly gasped, eyes going wide as she caught sight of Zora's cursed arm. "Y-Your arm! What happened?! Are you okay?! Did the Heartless do that? Does...does that mean...?"

The stranger's eyes filled with a sort of understanding and deep sadness. "Was your world destroyed, too?"
