Sometime later...

"Sin's our punishment for letting things get out of hand. Long time ago, there were a whole lot of cities in Spira. Big cities with machina--machines--to run 'em.." began Wakka as he walked into the odd wooden home, where a pot of steaming food lay wait for them. He sat down and handed out a plate of the warm smelling meat-like grub as he continued "People played all day and let the machina do the work.."

He shook his head as if disgusted "And then, well, Sin came, and destroyed the machina cities. That was about a thousand years ago. What gets me, though, is we gotta suffer, 'cause of what some goofballs did way back when!" His fists clenched and he stood up, shaking his head "Course, we must always repent for our sins! That's important!"

Laughter boomed outside, from a certain British voice. Wakka narrowed his eyes as Takato's form could be seen, pointing straight at him as the laughter poured out of him. It was like what the red-head said had tickled something within him. In reality, Takato was laughing at how dumb the whole thing sounded.

"Hey, what's your problem, ya?!"

Takato shook his head and hid his chuckles, not noticing there was a crowd gathering, including an oddly dressed girl with one green eye and one blue eye. The English Mage crossed his arms and began to speak, as if he was explaining to a two year old "So, what you're saying is some big creature comes out of nowhere, destroys your civilization, and you blame your sins on the whole thing?"

He shook his head and then threw up his arms, shouting loudly

"ARE YOU COMPLETELY NUTS?!"

Silence echoed.

"I have to agree with shorty over there." Zora said, pointing back at Takato as she turned to Wakka. "It seems a bit farfetched to me."

"Oh? How so?"

"Well for one thing, why would a giant creature ca-" Zora paused, an annoyed look on her face as she turned to look over her shoulder to see a boy who looked similar to her standing behind her. ".....You really need to stop doing that, Kuro."

"Nyaaaa~~~" He said, grinning cheekly before turning back int oa tiny, cute cat.

Zora merely facepalmed and turned back to Wakka. "Anyways, do you even have PROOF that it was caused by lazy people using machina?"

For the most part, Ima didn't understand what was going on. However, the child did see that whatever they were talking about, their opinions on the matter were not in agreement. She watched the people in fascination, amazed at aeeing so many different expressions and emotions from everyone.

Still, she wished she knew what they were talking about...

Wakka looked angry, standing up as he began to speak with his eyes narrowed upon the blonde boy and the girl "Y-You don't get! Its in the teachings! Sin takes everything away from us, but if we repent, then he'll vanish' sooner or later, ya!? Still..." He finally sighed and let go of his anger, continuing "You did get near Sin's toxin, ya? Guess it must be doing hell to ya minds.."

He resumed eating in silence, just grunting to himself. Takato snorted and turned away, ignoring the glares sent his way. Even though the whole "toxin" thing had made thing easier, there was still no doubt in mind that their words had impacted the minds of those in Besaid. The blonde watched as the crowd scattered with a sigh and crossed his arms

"You know, you really shouldn't say such things.." interrupted a soft voice, a girl setting before the teen. It was rather amusing to note that the two were at odd height, with Takato being slightly shorter. Amber eyes met multicoloured ones, a shiver of wind running through both figures.

"....Why....?"

The girl smiled and was about to introduce herself, only for the English Mage to interrupt with another snort and shake of his head, tearing the glove off his metal arm. A shock wave of shock ran through the girl, along with anyone else that observed the action. Takato narrowed his eyes at the sky and patted Ima's shoulder, his words echoing

"Human kind has the instinct to evolve and grow. You let fear of this creature invade your minds, and you put it down to sins? A creature destroys your homes, and you make excuses!" barked Takato as he pointed at the girl with his metal arm "Machines are a tool of mankind, to help us. Tools, that you all could use to crush that thing..."

The girl held a hand over her mouth in shock as she stared him in stunned silence. The English Mage took a step forward and his hands began to glow, a dark feeling setting in upon the area. Strings of latin began to pour over his lips as his eyes flashed. A spark of power flashed around him for a single second, before all actions ceased.

Takato paused and then simply sighed, turning away as he began to walk towards the lodge, cursing up a storm to himself. Yuna, the girl, just stood there looking at his back with a hint of stunned awe and surprise. Silence boomed for a moment, before she turned on her foot and began to walk towards the temple.

Yet, his final words still struck deeply

"Never be like these people, Ima, never."

Ima stared at the retreating figure of the girl for a moment before turning her head away and dashing to catch up to Takato. Hearing him speak like that made her chest feel rather odd. It was't really a feeling she knew how to describe. But she knew that something really big had just happened, and wondered what sort of impact it would have on the future.

Fear...she had heard of that before. Ima had heard many different descriptions of the emotion, but none of them had ever really made sense to her. She had no clue what it felt like; she may have even experienced without knowing. It was a fascinating thought though. Were the people here so in fear of what this Sin was that they could do nothing?

Ima wanted to know.

But right now she felt that she wanted to stay with Takato more than she wanted to find out.

Soon the child caught up to the mage and grabbed his metal hand with her own flesh one. She smiled up at him, hoping that she could make him smile too.

"I promise, Takato."

Whatever slight seriousness the words had was discarded when she held up her other hand, little finger extended to make a pinky swear.

Zora merely watched as Takato walked away, her arms crossed as she let out a heavy sigh. "I have to partially agree with the both of you boys." Zora said to Wakka as she shrugged. "I mean, sure, they were idiots to hand their lives to the machines...but that doesn't mean you cant use the others to aid you...." She fell silent, her face scrunching in deep thought, before walking away. Placing her right, black arm on Wakka's shoulder for a small moment, she muttered somethign before letting go and walking away.

"If you don't mind...I'll skip out on the food and head to that temple of yours."

Times passes...

A day had passed, leaving the small Village in the lashing of morning. Two amber eyes gazed at the sky as a red coat waved in the small draft of wind. Takato chanted words of latin under his breath, expecting a reaction within the area, only to receive a cold silence. The location spell just wouldn't work.

He had been up all night, studying books and a number of maps he had gotten from the lodge. His workings had unearthed something, yes, but it wasn't something he was exactly pleased about. They were certainly in another realm, or world, but half of what he found didn't make much sense. Spira was more of a large country, than a planet.

It all didn't add up.

He had done a number of spells to see if the laws of nature still applied, only to come up with a rather grim answer. The spiritual presence in this realm was immense, to the point that Death could be a mere annoyance to those who knew. Magic was thick in the very core of the land, and it was Magic had know knowledge of.

What dumbfounded him, was the raw secret a scryin' spell and a reading spell had shown him. None of the monsters on the island could hold a candle to their own current level of power. Yet, there was far more powerful monsters on another island a boat trip away.

Sadly, that wasn't the only thing. Since the beginning of the night, he had found an immense amount of magical and spiritual energy seeping from the temple, to the point that he would probably had to muster up a A-level spell to match its potency (something which was currently beyond him). Oddly enough though, the scan shown him that the energy was in the same classification as that black Dragon-like creature...

"Hmm..."

Ima, unlike Takato, had been exploring the entire night. There was certainly a lot less technology than she had known to be in the others places she had traeled to. Even the more rural ones. So what they had said about Sin coming because of machines must have truly given them much fear.

It was a lovely place, she thought. Perhaps it was the simpleness of it all, but Ima rather liked it that way. But all the big blue things that were scattered around the land freaked her out for some reason. There was nothing at all like that where she had come from.

Ima then noticed Takato in the midst of her musings. Smiling happily, she skipped over to the mage and tugged on his coat. "Hi Takato! What are you doing?" The girl said with a chipper tone, not at all affected by having no sleep.

Zora grumbled to herself as she walked around the rather small village. Kuro sat on the top of her head in the form of a bird, chirping as if to lighten her mood.

She has entered the Besaid Temple (atleast, that's what people say it is) the night before and saw a number of statues inside. The monks told her that they were the statues of 'High Summoners' that defeated Sin. She attempted to go up the stairs that were in the middle of the room, but they have forbidden her, saying that a summoner and her guardians are already inside and that no outsiders are allowed to enter. This left her quite frustrated and confused the entire night.

"Damn....I just don't get it!" She said, ruffling up her hair and causing Kuro to fly away from her hands of deadlyness. "Cloister of Trials...what in hell's name is it? I mean, sure, it should be some sort of test...but why aren't we allowede inside?!" She mentally stared t obeat herself up as she attempted to decipher the meaning.

Kuro could only watch her and held his head low as he flew back near the hut where Wakka lived. As he landed on the ground, he turned back into the form of a boy who looks similar to his 'master'. As he was walking inside, he quickly recoilled and peeked, seeing Wakka talking to another person.

"...It's already been a day." The otehr person said to Wakka. The expression on his face was mixed with worry and anger.

"I know it's been a day, but there's nothing I can do aobut it! It's a rule!" He snapped back.

Kuro could only blink in confusion, tilting his head. He noticed that Wakka was staring in his direction and quickly fleed from the hut as fast as he could.

"Trying to figure out this crazy world..." replied Takato as he sat down on a nearby log, flipping through a small pocket book. His ears twitched as he heard the nearby coversation, listening slightly. He stood up and sighed, turning to see Wakka looking stressed. Finally, the English Mage couldn't take it

"Is something wrong?"

Wakka sighed and gave a brief shake of his head as he began. "There's a room in there called the Cloister of Trials. Beyond is where the apprentice summoner prays. Sadly, the summoner hasn't returned from the trial..."

"That man said it's been a day." Kuro chirped in suddenly as he popped up from behind Takato. "Is the room bad?"

"Kuro! There you are!"

A shudder went through his body as he heard Zora's angery voice and immediately shrank back into a cat, hiding in Takato's clothes. Zora stompped over to where the otehrs were and looked around. "Damn...wehre did he go?" After looking fo ra bit more, she sighed and shrugged. "At any rate, I heard you guys saying something about that damn room in the temple. They wont let outsiders in for some reason. Should we just go charging in and checking if that summoner's all right?"

"If they don't let ousiders check, why don't the insiders go take a look?" Said Ima, tilting her head a bit in confusion. "But shouldn't someone go see what's wrong? That person could be hurt or something..." She frowned a bit at this, not liking her own idea.

"There's already guardians in there. Besides, it's forbidden."

Takato didn't even bother with a response as he walked straight past him, heading towards the temple. It was a perfect excuse to check out those energy signatures! Thus the Mage walked up the stairs and turned to those still with Wakka, his eyes landing on his companions. "I don't know about you, but I'm going to help."

With that he ignored those gasping and gazing at him, his form pushing into the temple and upwards up the certain steps, silencing a warning monk with a simple sleep spell. In a matter of seconds chaos broke out in the temple, though most looked confused with how Takato did that.

Wakka narrowed his eyes before sighing, charging after him,

Kuro popped out of Takato's shirt and lookedu pa t his ehad, meowing questionably at him as he tilted his head.

"I agree with beansprout for once!" Zora said as she followed from behind. "Screw the rules, a person could be dying int ehre for all we know!" She managed to catch up to Takato. "So what do you thinkn the Cloister of Trials will hold for us? It shouldn't be that hard,....right?"

Ima simply bounded after Takato. Of course she was going to go, why wouldn't she? If Takato was going then she most certainly did not want to get left behind. Being with him put a feeling in her chest that she liked...it reminded her of her first friend too...

She opted to stay silent, just staying close to Takato. It was times like this she greatly disliked her limited vocabulary. All she really knew is that something bad might be happening and they were going to fix it.

Oh well. Maybe she could ask Takato to teach her...especially to read. He most like still wanted to make that Pactio thingy, and she needed to read or something.

"So, this is the Cloister of Trials?"

Takato looked around, taking a look at the rather odd large room, noting the cracked stone walls and ageing floor. The place looked really old, but this wasn't the thing that caught his eye. There was a glowing glyph at the back of the room, on the wall. His magical senses could see ancient writing flashing over it, as if beckoning them,

"Careful, Magic runs wild in this place..."

He took a step forward as he patted Ima softly on the shoulder, moving towards the glyph with interest. He studied it a moment before bringing up his metal arm to it. Seconds passed by as the arm inched to touch the glyph, the cold metal meeting stone.

Yet, something completely unexpected happened. Takato was blown back by a rupture of electricity and force, his body flying through the air before slamming into the stone floor. A yelp of pain trailed over his pale lips, odd seals flashing over the edges of the metal arm. His amber eyes narrowed as he shook off the pain and stood up, holding his arm

"Guess I should take my own advice, huh? The Magic in that glyph reacted badly with my magical focus, blowing me back. Still, it shouldn't be all that much of a problem without a focus like mine..." toned Takato as he took a glance at Ima and Zora, pointing back to the wall

"Can you touch it please? Since my focus is connected to my body, I cannot touch such a thing without my magical energy clashing with it. For someone else though, it should merely activate what it was meant to hold..."

OOC: "Why is Takato suddenly so smart?" - He's not, but he did study magic his entire life after all...

Ima looked at Takato with concern in her eyes. That looked like it had hurt. She hoped he was alright, he seemed to be, but Ima had learned that not all injuries were on the outside of the body. Still, she was sure that Takato knew better than anyone if he was alright, so she just nodded.

The child walked up to the stone wall. She couldn't help but stare for a bit. It looked marvelous and intimidating for some reason, maybe just because it seemed so large and ancient. Or maybe it was just her imagination.

She put her hand to the wall...

Zora's eyes widen as she asw Takato being blasted back. "What in hell's name kind of trials are these?!" She shouted before walking t othe side of the room. There were strange white characters that she couldn't read so she leaned over and tried to decipher them in her head. The moment Ima touched it, it glowed green for a moment before fading away. The letters Zora was looking at disapepared as a glyph appeared on the wall. "Another one...?" she mutterd as she reached over with her right hand and put it on the glyph...

...which was a BAD idea.

At the moment her hand touchede the glyph, it flashed red and some sort of energy ran through her arm and throughout her body. She screamed in pain, her other hand on her right arm as she tried to remove it form the glyph. After a few more agonizing seconds, the glyph stopped glowing and she fell backwards. "Fucking hell...I don't have magic so why me?!" she shouted, rubbing the back of her head. She froze, looking at her left hand, before glaring at it. "No way..." Staggering herself up again, she reached over the glyph with her left hand. She hesitated a few times before she managed to touch it.

This time, it glew green and the portion of the wall raised up, reveaing a new entryway. She merely stared at where the wall and the glyph was before looking at her hands; switching from her normal left hand and her monsterous right hand before sighing heavly.

"You racist son of a bitch..."

"Here, let me deal with that. Tui Gratia Jovis Gratia Sit Cura..." toned Takato as his pointed his hand at the girl, the latin flowing over his lips. The light of the spell sweapt over himself and Zora before vanishing, leaving a relaxed and able feeling. His amber eyes blinked as he then turned to the opening,

"Well, lets go see where this leads..."

While Takato had started to heal Zora, Ima's curiosity had finally gotten the better of her. She went into the opening the moment it had revealed itself. Maybe not the smartest thing to do, but she wanted to know what was in there sooooooo badly. And she had heard somewhere that curiosity can make you explode, so it was a good thing to do, right?

And she was pretty sure she could handle herself. She had been for a while, and she was 8. Almost full grown. Besides, she had Takato and Zora coming right after her. If anything bad came her way, they would surely help her, right?

...Right?

"Hey, wait up, it isn't safe here!"

Takato followed with dashing hurry, going down a few steps. As he turned the corner, something happened. He felt a shock wave of magic lash under his feet, the area completely changing into a massive stone room the size of a large building. He looked around, noting the fact that the stairs were still there, but this one hallway had changed..

Then, he froze.

A massive green bird like creature stood in the way of the path ahead, causing him to stumble backwards. It screeched and spread large skinned wings, electric flowing upwards around it. He felt the aura, and then paled completely. It might not of been as powerful as that Dragon, but it had a feeling kinda like it, but simply not the same..

“Oh....bollocks...”

Ima just stared at the bird. This planet was just getting more amazing every moment she spent here. It took a bit for Takato's words to register in her mind. When they did, she pouted. Sje didn't really want to fight it, she wanted to learn more about it.

Still, the girl took out the laser gun hidden away in her sweater pocket. She then got into a pose not unlike the one she was in when she first battled Takato. Her friend was far more worldly than her, and if he said they had to, it was probably for the best.

But that still didn't keep her from pouting.

"What in hell's name?!" Zora said, backing away from the strange green bird thing. "All right, it's official: THIS IS ONE FUCKED UP WORLD WE ENDED UP IN!!!"

Kuro bounded in front of the three kids and suddenly grew in size.....greatly. He transformed from a tiny kitten about the size of a hand to a giant, vicious beast nearly the same size as the strange monster in front of them. He let outa low growl as he stood his ground.

Takato dashed forward in an instant as he activated a certain Pactio, his metal arm gaining a connected blade in a flash. He flew at the beast, throwing strike after strike at the creature as charges of lightning ripped into his own fleshy form.

His red coat was blasted off as the mighty beast screeched, sending out a powerful shock wave that sent him flying backwards, slamming into the rocky room wall. He gathered his thoughts and shook off the pain, standing up as he slammed down his hand to the floor and murmured in Latin

A blast of electricity quickly slammed into a created stone wall, missing out on roasting the English Mage with a flash of light. Takato panted and destroyed the spell created stone wall, his fleshed hand coming up to gather energy. Flickers of flame span around his body, coming to form in a single orb of power within his palm.

The Mage threw finally out the hand and let loose a blast of fire at the beast in the form of a large ball, watching it slam dead into the creature as his lips echoed with the spell name “Turbo Flamma!” (Whirling Motion Flame)

Yet, the beast seemed merely angry as it flapped its wings and screeched loudly, a thunderous amount of lightning exploding forth from it. The blasts of thunder roared and shot towards Zora and Ima, tearing apart stone.

Takato was hit by a single blast, his form crashing into the floor as he felt the raw pain conduct down his other arm. It took a second to gather himself, panting as he began to stand once more, magic pouring through his blood.
